Hairdressers in Saxony: Why Andrea wants to move to Poland!

Hairdressers in Saxony: Why Andrea wants to move to Poland!
There is news from Dresden that should not be ignored! Andrea Schmidt, a Cologne native with Bavarian roots, wrote a column about the exorbitant hairdressing prices in her new home. After moving from Bavaria to Saxony in 2018, she quickly realized that the prices for haircuts here were no longer reasonable. She initially paid around 120 euros, but after the corona pandemic the prices shot up to up to 180 euros in December 2024. This is not an isolated case, as even 220 euros for a simple service are possible - and all without any luxury!
Schmidt compares her experiences with a friend in Heidelberg who only has to pay 120 euros for the same services. She sees the high prices as unjustified because wages and energy prices have not risen to the same extent. She is also seriously considering going to Poland to visit a hairdresser to save money. In the Uckermark the prices are not that high, but up to 120 euros for highlights and cutting are not uncommon there either.
Hairdressers in crisis
As the Uckermark Kurier reports, hair salons have raised prices to pass on the increased product and operating costs. Rising rents and salaries, as well as repayments of emergency aid, are putting pressure on the margins of private hairdressers, which poses major challenges for many entrepreneurs. The demand for fair prices is also becoming louder in view of the economic burden on salons.
While hairdressing prices in Germany continue to rise, there is also good news from the sports world! A special event is causing a stir in Major League Baseball. Jen Pawol made history as the first female umpire to stand behind home plate in MLB. Its premiere took place at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia and represents a milestone for women's soccer.
MLB rivalry on the field
Things will get exciting next week as the San Diego Padres play the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. The Padres currently lead the National League West by one game over the Dodgers. This is the latest stretch of the season in which the Padres have held onto first place since 2010. Remarkable since the Dodgers have won a total of 11 of 12 in the last 11 West titles since 2013! The upcoming matches already promise a lot of drama, especially after the last matches in which the Dodgers won 5 of 7 duels.
Looking ahead to the upcoming pitching matchups, including world-class pitchers like Clayton Kershaw and Yu Darvish, the excitement is already palpable. The Dodgers have recovered after a difficult stretch in July in which they lost 11 of 13 games.
WhatsApp Web as a useful platform
But things aren't just happening in sports - digital solutions also play a big role in everyday life. WhatsApp Web has established itself as a practical platform that allows users to conveniently send messages via the browser. To use WhatsApp Web you just have to follow a few simple steps. A QR code is scanned and you can access the usual WhatsApp interface on the computer. This makes it possible to easily manage chats and transfer files quickly.
Not only is WhatsApp Web easy to use and install, it also offers benefits such as multiple account support and dark mode. This gives you control over communication, whether on the desktop or mobile.
The news from various areas of life shows that we are in a time of change - be it in service offerings, in sports or in digital communication. It will be interesting to see how prices develop in barbershops and whether the tradition of the Dodgers and Padres will continue in the MLB.
