New power grid for Templin: 3.7 million euros for the energy transition!

There will soon be a large project in Templin, Uckermark, that will further advance the energy transition. E.DIS Netz GmbH today gave the starting signal for a comprehensive network expansion project that will involve an investment of 3.7 million euros. The aim of the project is to adapt the medium-voltage network between the Klosterwalde and Templin substation to the current needs of the region. The work will begin on July 22, 2023 and is intended to help enable the connections of heat pumps, fast chargers, wall boxes and solar roofs, which is particularly important for new buildings and companies that want to invest in digitalization.

Before the actual construction work begins, detailed construction consultation has already taken place with the civil engineering company RASK Brandenburg GmbH. However, challenges are also expected during the construction phase, including noise disturbances and access restrictions for residents. A little patience and understanding is therefore required.

Network expansion in line with the energy transition

Network expansion is also high on the agenda in other regions of Germany. E.DIS is implementing numerous construction projects on the electricity and gas network in Brandenburg in order to increase security of supply in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The demand for climate-friendly energy and heat supply solutions is constantly increasing, and E.DIS is responding to the increased demand by continually expanding its networks. Another example of this is the current construction work in Meyenburg, which extends north along Marktstrasse. Part of the electricity distribution network is being expanded here in order to optimally align the region with the requirements of the energy transition.

In Meyenburg, where civil engineering work began in May 2023, investments of around 750,000 euros are also not negligible. The work, which is being carried out by Elektroanlagenbau Kammeyer, involves laying around 1.5 kilometers of medium-voltage cable and one kilometer of low-voltage cable. For this purpose, empty pipes will also be laid for future broadband expansion. Residents will be informed in good time about possible disruptions so that they can prepare accordingly.

Diverse tasks for E.DIS

With an impressive electricity network totaling 82,500 kilometers and a gas pipeline network of 5,100 kilometers, E.DIS is a central player in the region. The company employs around 3,000 people, including around 200 trainees, and has a solid financial basis thanks to its main shareholder E.ON and municipal shareholders. These comprehensive construction projects underline E.DIS' contribution to increasing energy supply security and supporting municipal and industrial investments in the digital sector.

The challenges are great, but with a good plan and a strong team, E.DIS is well equipped to set the course for a sustainable future. Stay tuned as we will continue to report on the progress of these exciting projects.
