Prenzlauer Sportverein shines at East German canoe championships!
Brandenburg an der Havel, Deutschland - The 34th East German championships in canal racing took place from June 26th to 29th, 2025 on the picturesque regatta route at Betetzsee in Brandenburg an der Havel. Over 750 athletes from 56 clubs took part in the competitions, which served as a qualification for the German championships. In addition to exciting races over distances of 200 to 5000 meters, the audience also expected an exciting canoeing all-around, which put the athletics of the participants to the test. The championship was organized by the Brandenburg Betetzsee Regatta team, which with around 80 helpers set up an all -round successful event. Thore Zühlsdorf and Lennox Tensioner competed in the K1 over 500 meters and took place 6 and 8 in the intermediate run. In the 2000-meter race, both athletes were able to assert themselves in the solid midfield. Ole Brandt, who in the K1 over 500 meters for the final and finally took the impressive fourth place, is particularly positive - just 0.2 seconds from the podium. In the K2 over 2000 meters, he landed in 11th place with Lennox Spiegel.

ole Brandt not only convinced on the water, but also showed its versatility in the cane fight: he achieved second place in the ball throw, third place in the 1000-meter run and again second place over 2000 meters in the K1. Ole Brandt was honored as an East German champion for his excellent performance. The association's board of the Prenzlau sports club cheered on these successes and emphasized the importance of young talent.
Another hope of the association is Lars Tege, who was nominated for the ECA Junior and U23-Kanu sprint in 2025 in Pitesti, Romania. Tege has already celebrated numerous national and international successes, including the title as the national champion in K2 and German champion in the K4 over 500 meters. At the German championship in the K1 over 1000 meters, he made it to the fourth place and at the Olympic Hope Games. Lars Tege trains at the federal base of the KC Potsdam and visits the sports school there.

The first competitions began on Thursday with the all-round canoeing of the students, followed by exciting races on Friday and Saturday. After the great success of the championships, the next challenges are already on: The world's dragon boat world championships from July 14th to 2025 are part of the upcoming events, in which over 4,000 athletes from all over the world are expected.
