Templin high school students shine at the athletics finals in Löwenberg!
In the heart of the Uckermark, 30 students from Templin High School recently showed off their best side at the state athletics final “Youth training for the Olympics” in Löwenberg. Competing in three teams, they qualified through their outstanding performances in the regional finals of the Frankfurt/Oder North school district in May Northern Courier reported.
The competition was characterized by exciting competition, with both U18 teams, both boys and girls, taking a respectable second place. The U16 mixed team was also able to shine with good performances. Particularly noteworthy is the support work of the sports teachers Daniel Schenk, Maria Ziems, Jan Kubaty as well as the trainers Volker Quandt and Toni Lange, who actively supported their protégés.
Strong individual performance
In the individual competition, Frieda Lehmann stood out, triumphing in three individual disciplines. She cleared the impressive height of 1.55 meters in the high jump, a single jump that brought her victory, and also reached a high point in the long jump with 5.11 meters, becoming the only one in her age group to jump over five meters. She was also successful in the 800 meter run and secured first place.
Jiri Schaper also made a name for himself by securing second place for the boys' team: with a time of 2:10.47 minutes over the 800 meters, he showed what he was made of. It was a day full of personal successes, and among the participants Leni Parow celebrated her birthday in the shot put, which further brightened the mood in the team.
Support and team spirit
In addition to the sporting highlights, one could also highlight the support that the Templin high school students received from the A to Z beverage market, which provided mineral water. Such small gestures not only strengthen team spirit, but also show how important community and support are in competitive sports. Youth trained has set itself the task of promoting such highlights in school sports, which is also confirmed by the German Athletics Association (DLV), which has over 850,000 members in more than 7,700 clubs.
The DLV not only deals with high-performance sports, but is also involved in the areas of popular and health sports as well as training and further education, which is particularly important in the youth sector. Events such as “Youth train for the Olympics” give young people the opportunity to train team cohesion and social skills, which are crucial for their future life, as the materials on children's athletics show DLV Academy.
In terms of competition, team competitions in athletics are very popular because they not only promote fun in exercise, but also strengthen the feeling of togetherness within the groups. On such special days, the athletes can not only rely on their individual strengths, but also strive for the top together, which ultimately allows all participants to grow together.
