Barbara Gruner from SOS Children's Villages presents the new lottery with Omaze to promote donations for families in need.

Win a dream villa worth 2.5 million euros for a good cause!
Who doesn't dream of winning millions? In Plau am See, this dream is now becoming a reality: “Omaze”, a company that combines competitions with social commitment, is giving away a breathtaking villa worth 2.5 million euros and 100,000 euros in cash. This exciting action not only attracts hunters of fortune, but also has a deeper social background. Barbara Gruner, board member of SOS Children's Villages worldwide, welcomes this combination of lottery and social commitment and sees it as great opportunities for children in need.
The villa, which has recently been up for raffle, offers 325 square meters of space, several bedrooms and bathrooms and a fantastic view of Lake Plauer. 21 percent of the proceeds from the tickets, which are available from just ten euros, go to the SOS Children's Villages. For example, if you had to pay 10 euros for a ticket, you would support the organization with 2.10 euros. Omaze also guarantees a minimum donation of 500,000 euros, regardless of how many lottery tickets are sold. These funds should be used specifically for educational programs and child protection projects that are of great importance to the organization.
A strong team for a good cause
The partnership between “Omaze” and SOS Children’s Villages aims to promote support for children and families around the world. Given the current crises such as the conflict in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, Barbara Gruner sees this as an important opportunity to activate donations. “The explosiveness and challenges in society are great, and we know that many people are having a harder time financially,” notes Gruner.
With the new lottery, “SOS Children’s Villages Worldwide” hopes to revive the willingness to donate. In 2020, the company had already raised over 100 million euros for charitable projects in the UK and supported various well-known organizations, including UNICEF and WWF. The objective is clear: to promote social projects in the long term and at the same time create exciting profit opportunities.
Opportunities and challenges
Despite the positive developments, the situation for SOS Children's Villages is not without challenges. In Germany, the number of ongoing projects, such as children's villages in Grimmen-Hohenwieden and Schwerin and a family center in Barth, is limited. Gruner plans to closely monitor the progress of the collaboration with “Omaze” in order to offer a home to as many children as possible.
In recent years, “Omaze” has developed into a popular provider of so-called social lotteries, which are increasingly coming into focus in this country. In the current edition of fundraising magazine the topic is dealt with comprehensively. It provides an overview of different lotteries and how nonprofit institutions can benefit from them.
At the end of the day, it's not just the pursuit of the big win that drives us. Rather, it's about having a positive influence on the lives of children who depend on our help. The lottery pool is large, the chances of winning are attractive, and on top of that we have the opportunity to do good. What could be better?
