A bright dream for the German team: in the ongoing World Games Germany secured the lead in the medal table with an impressive tally of eight gold medals! These games, the largest event for non-Olympic sports, offer athletes from DLRG and other sports the opportunity to show their talent on the international stage.

At these World Games, 22-year-old Nina Holt from Harsewinkel once again caused a sensation. She started with the goal of further expanding on her previous successes and managed to do so 100 meter rescue medley to take first place despite missing her own world record by just five hundredths of a second. Holt wasn't just the lone warrior who showed outstanding performances; Together with her teammates Lena Oppermann, Julia Hennig and Undine Lauerwald, she also won gold in the4×50 meter pool lifesaver relay.

And that's not all! Holt also triumphed in the disciplines of4x25m manikin relayand the50m Manikin Carry. She won the gold medal in each of her five starts at these World Games, making her the second most successful athlete in the event's history, with a total of nine gold and one bronze medals. On the all-time best list she is only behind Jürgen Kolenda, who has won eleven gold medals.

It was an exciting start for the German team, which competed with a total of 211 athletes. Germany had already won four gold medals on Friday, including from European karate champion Mia Bitsch and dancers Marius Balan and Khrystyna Moshenska, who also won titles.
