Germany supplies Patriot systems and ammunition for Ukraine freedom!
On July 21, 2025, Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced expanded support for Ukraine. This comes at a time when Ukraine is suffering massive air strikes from Russia. Pistorius made it clear that the Bundeswehr will provide five urgently needed Patriot systems to strengthen Ukrainian defense efforts. This decision will be coordinated with international partners in the coming days DW reported.
Two of the systems come from the Bundeswehr, while Norway is contributing a third Patriot system. Although Germany will also take over the financing of these systems, the remaining costs will be borne by the NATO partners. The aim is to ensure that the support reaches the Ukrainian armed forces in a timely manner and can be used effectively.
Coordination and collaboration
A group of experts will meet this week to ensure the rapid delivery of the Patriot systems. While Pistorius stressed that Germany will provide Ukraine with weapons-grade support, there are also plans to finance long-range drones to be produced in Ukraine. These help to further expand the country's independent defense capability, reports Deutschlandfunk.
According to an agreement between Germany and the USA, the costs of delivery to Kiev will be borne by the European states. Germany also announced that the first long-range missiles will be delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces in the next few days. These new weapons should be able to penetrate deeper into Russian territory and carry out targeted attacks on Russian aircraft, drones and missiles.
Current situation and attacks
In this critical period of defense, the solidarity of international partners is crucial. Previous support has already included several Patriot systems delivered by Germany to Ukraine, and a further step in this commitment is now being taken. It remains to be seen how quickly the new systems can be delivered and what further measures NATO partners will take to support Ukraine.
