Revolution in mechanical engineering: HSU and Reyher start new cooperation!

Hamburg, Deutschland - On May 28, 2025, the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Bundeswehr Hamburg and the F. Reyher Nchfg. GmbH & Co. KG signed a cooperation agreement. This step is intended to strengthen the cooperation between science and business and promote young people in mechanical engineering. Important representatives of both institutions were present during the signing, including Klaus Dieter Schmidt, Managing Director of Reyher, and Axel Puckhaber, Chancellor of the Helmut Schmidt University. Roland Kirsch, commercial director of Reyher, Marko Nitzke, HR manager at Reyher, and Mario Oertel, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering at the HSU, also took part in the event.

The cooperation is geared towards the "Maschinenbau" bachelor's degree, which starts on October 1, 2025. The duration of the training offer is up to three study places per year of study by 2029. The course leads to the end of Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) And aims to specifically promote the growth of skilled workers. goals of the cooperation

The aim of the collaboration is the close link between theory and practice. Through innovative approaches in the training, the training of future engineers is to be strengthened in the departments of mechanical engineering and production. This practical relevance is through the dual study of the F. Reyher Nchfg. GmbH relieves, which provides for a high proportion of practice for aspiring business informatics and mechanical engineers.

Reyher is characterized by a high supply of over 99 percent and processes around 25,000 order items every day. The company has an automated logistics center with over 100,000 pallet parking spaces and 180,000 container parking spaces, which ensures efficient processing of the orders. Modern Kanban systems and e-business solutions are also used to optimize the processes.

content and practical phases

The bachelor's degree in "Mechanical Engineering" includes basic engineering subjects such as mathematics, physics and technical mechanics in the core degree. The second study section offers depressions in areas such as electrical drive technology and production technology, whereby elective subjects are also available for specialization in modern topics such as robotics and sustainable energy systems. The dual degree includes practical phases that take place in cooperation with companies in order to optimally prepare the students for the requirements of industry.

The partnership between the Helmut Schmidt University and Reyher is a significant step to promote the young engineering in Germany and represents an exemplary connection between the university and industry. The close cooperation is intended to ensure that graduates have the necessary skills and knowledge in order to cope with the challenges of the modern professional world.
