Football madness: West Mecklenburg clubs in cup fever!
Next weekend there will be a lot going on in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Football Cup! The first games of the new season are coming up and the anticipation for the first duels is huge. The football world in the region has already been preparing for the big event last week. Exciting test games were the final dress rehearsal.
There were particularly interesting results for FC Mecklenburg Schwerin, who suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat against Barmbek-Uhlenhorst's Hamburg team. MSV Pampow, on the other hand, made people sit up and take notice with their 8-1 win against TSG Gadebusch. The third team from the West Mecklenburg Association, FC Schönberg, also clearly won their friendly against Grevesmühlen 5-2, which boosted the team's morale.
The state cup starts
In the first round of the state cup there will be exciting away games for the West Mecklenburg representatives. FC Mecklenburg Schwerin is expecting a city derby against Schweriner SC. FC Schönberg also has to play against SV Wittenbeck and MSV Pampow plays against SV 90 Lohmen. If these teams perform as well as they did in the test matches, the fans can be optimistic.
The draw for the round of 16 in the state cup will take place on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the NDR northern magazine “Land und Leute”. This gives reason to hope that we will face bigger opponents in future rounds and have the chance for more exciting encounters, like last week at FC Schönberg, who shone with an impressive 9-0 win against Rhenaer SV. Particularly noteworthy are the goal scorers Godknecht and Aldermann, who each hit the mark three times.
