On Monday, August 11, 2025, a serious traffic accident between two cars occurred at around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of B 198 and L 241 in Röbel. An 83-year-old driver of a Hyundai overlooked the 40-year-old driver of a VW who had the right of way in the priority area, which led to a serious collision. While the driver of the VW was seriously injured and flown to Neubrandenburg Hospital in a rescue helicopter, the older Hyundai driver and his two children traveling with him, a 13-year-old and an 8-year-old, also suffered injuries, which were, however, classified as minor.
The accident site had to be closed for around two hours in order to carry out the rescue work. Both vehicles were no longer drivable and had to be towed away. The total property damage is estimated at around 20,000 euros.
