Tragic traffic accident near Alt Zachun: driver dies in the inferno of flames

On August 17, 2025, a tragic traffic accident occurred near Alt Zachun in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district (LK LUP) at around 8:15 p.m. An Opel car, which had previously attracted attention due to its unusual driving style and several “almost accidents”, crashed into a tree in a left-hand bend at the entrance to Alt Zachun and caught fire. The driver, whose identity is still unknown, died in the burning vehicle. The accident caused property damage estimated at 25,000 euros.

After the vehicle crashed into the tree, the fire spread to an adjacent field. 42 comrades from the volunteer fire brigades from Alt Zachun, Neu Zachun/Hoort/Bandenitz and Rastow as well as the rescue service and emergency doctor were immediately alerted. State road 092 had to be closed for around three hours in order to be able to record the accident and carry out rescue measures. The criminal investigations are already underway.

Spanish royal family holidays and current events

In addition to these personal matters, King Felipe VI. also concerns about the devastating forest fires currently raging in Spain. Regions such as Galicia, Castile and León and Extremadura are particularly affected. These fires have already claimed three lives and many people have had to be evacuated. The King has contacted the heads of government of the affected autonomous communities to express his solidarity, and the Fundación Reina Sofía has set up a fund of 50,000 euros to repair the environmental damage caused by the fires.

These current events clearly demonstrate the connection between individual fates and larger societal challenges, be it through a tragic loss in traffic or the natural disasters in Spain.
