In Damshagen, a devastating fire caused significant damage to Rene Groth's hobby mechanic workshop. The incident, which took place in the early hours of the morning, resulted in large parts of the workshop going up in flames. What is particularly tragic is that Groth only recently took over the lease for the workshop. The flames not only destroyed a mobile home and several accommodations, but also an Audi, which was not insured because it was not yet registered. Fortunately, Groth's mopeds and a Trabant remained unscathed, while his Honda Enduro only suffered minor heat damage.
The exact cause of the fire remains unclear. A man reportedly lived in the trailer and was there at the time of the fire. Surveillance cameras recorded the man falling out of the trailer shortly before the flames broke out. Groth and his friends are currently busy cleaning up the remains of the fire by separating scrap and hazardous waste. The cost of disposing of the destroyed material is high and could represent a significant burden.

To help rebuild the workshop, Groth started a fundraising campaign on Gofundme. He emphasizes that he is not interested in collecting maximum money, but rather in rebuilding the workshop. The community has already made initial offers of help to support Groth during this difficult time. This neighborhood initiative shows how important social cohesion is in such critical moments.
