Fire brigade competition: God's gift wins, Lützow again in second place!

The Lützow fire department had its eyes firmly set on the title last weekend. After coming second last year, the firefighters wanted to be at the top of the podium this time at the Lützow-Lübstorf community fire department competition. “We practiced intensively one evening before the competition,” reports police chief Arne Borck, who praises the cohesion of the police forces in the department.

However, the competition was strong. The fire department from Gottesgabe, just four kilometers away, took victory with the highest number of points in all disciplines. In the “Wet Fire Fighting Attack” discipline, a main discipline in firefighting, Lützow did not perform optimally and only took fifth place. Host Alt Meteln triumphed in the Nass fire-fighting attack, followed by Gottesgabe. Overall, Lützow again took second place in the overall ranking.

Youth and children on the road to success

The performance of the children's and youth defense force from Lützow was particularly pleasing. The young people won their competition and left Alt Meteln and the combination of Gottesgabe/Pokrent and Seehof behind them. Tim Schmidt, the youth worker from Lützow, was very satisfied with his team's performance.

The new children's defense groups from Perlin and Cramonshagen also competed together. Eight children from Perlin and three from Cramonshagen came together here after they had previously practiced together. It is noteworthy that the children's fire department in Perlin was only founded in March, which underlines the great commitment and enthusiasm of the young firefighters.

The “Wet Fire Fighting Attack” discipline itself is an exciting firefighting race in which a team of seven firefighters in full firefighting clothing must carry out a simulated firefighting attack within a very short time. The dynamic competition track is 95 meters long and 20 meters wide, and timing only begins when both containers are filled with ten liters each. These requirements ensure that the firefighters not only have to demonstrate their technique, but also their team spirit. The engineer responsible for the portable pump is not allowed to help with the other crew members, which creates additional tension.

Interest in youth fire brigades is growing, and the country has high hopes for active participation in future competitions due to the new uniform competition regulations for the “Wet Fire Fighting Attack” discipline. These regulations are intended to ensure a uniform comparison of young people and are a great incentive to continue to get involved in firefighting sports. Given these positive developments, we can only hope that we can experience even more exciting competitions in the future.
