The anticipation in Gadebusch is increasing: From 4th to July 6, 2025, the city becomes the scene of the Great Mint Festival, which is organized as part of the celebrations for the 800th anniversary of Gadebusch. Historical is offered, as is a pinch of creativity when local artists exhibit their works in the old fire brigade.
The gallery in the old fire brigade will open its doors during the coin festival and present an exciting exhibition under the motto "Art from here". Works by seven talented artists can be seen: Margrit Hintsche from Gadebusch, Carla Schiller from Groß Eichsen, Birgit Franz from Hundorf, Anke Ortlieb from Rehna, Barbara Trame from Lübeck, Karin Wagner from Schwerin and Andreas Frenzel from Meetzen. Visitors can look forward to a varied selection of portraits, still lifes and settings. 800 years Gadebusch
The coin festival is only a highlight as part of an entire festival week, which will be celebrated from June 27 to July 6, 2025 for the 800th anniversary. Gadebusch, first mentioned in 1225 and thus one of the oldest cities in Mecklenburg, has come up with a lot to celebrate this special event. Mayor Arne Schlien calls all citizens, clubs, companies and institutions for active participation. The aim was to organize a variety of activities that underline not only the anniversary, but also the community spirit. The upcoming highlights include the Gadebuscher Musiknacht on June 27, an anniversary concert on June 28th and the "fabulous" family day on June 29. A senior citizens' day and various concerts, including a glass harp concert, also take place during the festival week. On July 4th it really starts with the coin festival. This is designed by students from the Gadebuscher Gymnasium and members of the senior advisory board with a local reference and shows photos, texts and documents.
