According to Lackner, this increase is a clear sign of the effects of climate change on our weather conditions.
Last Friday evening there was rain and thunderstorms in various parts of Germany, but this time there was no major damage, which reassured the emergency services. However, these reports are no coincidence, because... German Weather Service (DWD) had forecast storms with heavy rain of up to 20 liters per square meter for Saturday night, especially along the Alps and as far as East Saxony. The forecasts are alarming, especially for the coming days, where heat-related extreme events continue to be predicted.
Call for vigilance
After last week's heat records, when an impressive 37.1 degrees was measured in Kitzingen, many are excited about the coming storms. Lackner expects a further increase in the number of operations due to extreme weather events. “The weather is becoming more unpredictable,” she warned. It is up to us to remain vigilant and react quickly in the event of severe weather.
