Courage from the neighborhood: 70-year-old saves neighbors with chest compressions!

A moving incident occurred on October 9th in Wietow, a district of the municipality of Lübow. Albert Losch, a 72-year-old man, felt unwell after shopping and lay down on his couch. Shortly afterwards, he asked his wife Adolfine, also 72, to measure his blood pressure again. Unfortunately, he fell unconscious, which left his wife in distress.

Adolfine quickly decided to seek help from a neighbor who had previously visited. The 70-year-old neighbor did not hesitate and immediately began giving Albert Losch chest compressions and respiration. These life-saving efforts lasted a remarkable 17 minutes while emergency responders were en route. It's not everyday that a single person can last this long, as helpers usually change every three to five minutes.

A race against time

At this point, Albert Losch had neither a pulse nor breathing. The rescue control center kept Adolfine constantly informed throughout the incident, which was extremely important in such a tense situation. When emergency services arrived, Albert was stabilized with three electric shocks and was ready to be transported at 8:45 p.m. His diagnosis revealed that he had suffered a heart attack due to vascular calcification on the back wall of the heart. After his treatment with three stents inserted, he was able to leave the hospital in Wismar after ten days.

Although Albert Losch survived the rescue, his health was not without consequences. He had bruises and broken ribs caused by cardiac massage. Nevertheless, he is extremely grateful to his neighbor and the hospital. His wife Adolfine particularly emphasizes that she would never have been able to save her husband on her own and praises the village community for their support.

The importance of community

This incident clearly shows how important attentive neighbors and quick reactions are in times of crisis. The failure of one's own physiology can affect any of us at any time, and the rapid application of first aid measures can be crucial. How the neighborhood in Lübow acted is a wonderful example of what community engagement can achieve.

Albert Losch's story also stands in contrast to modern information channels. YouTube, founded in 2005, is of great importance as a platform for video content. Everyone can find useful first aid tips or quick tutorials there - which is not only entertaining but also educational. The platform has become one of the most visited websites worldwide, with billions of active users consuming an enormous amount of video content every day. The dissemination of knowledge through these channels has the potential to impact countless lives.

As on the pages of the Ostsee-Zeitung as well According to Wikipedia, good first aid training will be at least as important as the quick response of a neighbor. The incident underlines that neighborly help combined with knowledge of life-saving measures is often the key to survival.
