Regional conference in Grevesmühlen: Together against right-wing extremism!

The event will take place in Grevesmühlen on November 15, 2025Regional conference on the topic of right-wing extremism and strengthening democracyinstead of. The invitation comes from the Partnership for Democracy of the Northwest Mecklenburg District, and the target group is aimed at everyone who would like to get involved in civil society, in local voluntary work or in full-time institutions for democracy. This conference offers a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas about the current challenges of right-wing extremism and to discuss how racism in rural areas can be overcome. Duchy Direct reports that participants will be informed in workshops about strategies to combat right-wing extremism.

Since its founding in Ratzeburg in 2012, the regional conference has already organized 15 events in various northern German cities. We were able to do this1,750 participantsbe trained and networked. The RAA Regional Center for Democratic Culture West Mecklenburg and the AWO-SH formed the organizing team for this new conference. Important topics of the conference

The conference will not only discuss strategies for overcoming racism, but also promote support for initiatives against right-wing extremism through expert contributions on the strategies of the extreme right and legal options for action. It is important for the organizers to draw a clear line: people with connections to right-wing extremist parties or organizations will be denied entry. This is intended to ensure a safe and respectful environment.

There is currently a worrying rise in racist and right-wing extremist ideologies in Europe. This not only leads to attacks on public media, but also to an overall worrying political atmosphere. COPPER highlights the importance of sending a strong signal for democracy and taking active action against anti-democratic movements.

Another opportunity to demonstrate for democracy will take place in Linz on February 25, 2024. A rally will be organized there, supported by civil society, religious communities and artists and cultural workers. Participants are invited to bring candles or demonstration signs and to refrain from using party political logos. This is a response to rising right-wing extremist trends that are finding support not only in Germany but also in Austria.

The topics covered at this conference and the upcoming rally show how important it is for committed people to come together and take a stand against extremism. Only through active exchange and the courage to discuss can we counter the danger that threatens our democratic values. It is up to us to raise our voices and fight for an open and diverse society.
