Rheinmetall is looking for partners in MV: Secret war plan laid down!
In the midst of geopolitical tensions, Rheinmetall AG, one of the internationally recognized companies in the defense industry that belongs to the DAX stock index, is looking for strong partners in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The company, headquartered in Düsseldorf, wants to offer local companies the opportunity to help supply soldiers during exercises and potential crises. This is happening as part of “Operations Plan D,” which is classified as a “secret matter,” and comprises over 1,400 pages and plays a central role in Germany’s future security policy. Ostsee-Zeitung reports, that the plan envisages Munich as a hub for NATO troops in Europe, with MV standing out due to its strategic location.
The numbers are impressive: With up to 120,000 soldiers who, in extreme cases, have to be cared for in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the region could cover twice the population of Stralsund and Greifswald combined. Regional politicians and aid organizations are already involved in the planning and are working intensively on the issue. The state government and the city administrations of MV are required to overcome the logistical challenges.
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as a hub for NATO troops
According to the secret document, the federal state will play a key role in European troop movements. Baltic Sea newspaper reports plans to move 800,000 soldiers and 190,000 vehicles within just two months. The airports in Rostock-Laage and Trollenhagen are strategically planned as central transport hubs. For the Rostock seaport, which plays a key role in NATO transport companies to Scandinavia and the Baltics, alternative locations are planned in Sassnitz and Stralsund if the main port is not available.
In addition, NATO plans to build a “deployment hub” in Rostock. This could happen in the naval arsenal or directly in the seaport. Close cooperation between the aid organizations, the technical relief organization, disaster control, the fire brigade and the police is sought in order to achieve the safety goals.
Cooperation opportunities for local companies
Companies in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania now have the opportunity to apply to become Rheinmetall partners. The demand for efficient medium-sized companies is high, as Rheinmetall has a framework agreement worth 260 million euros to support the Bundeswehr and friendly armies. The company offers a variety of services, including fuel supply, repair work, medical assistance, and food and security services.
“We see ourselves as having a responsibility to operate in a dramatically changing world,” explains Rheinmetall. Sustainability and technological innovation are not just buzzwords for the company, but rather integral components of its corporate strategy. The group also aims to achieve CO2 neutrality by 2035. Rheinmetall itself emphasizes that their technologies serve as a basis for security and sustainable development.
This boom in the defense industry could not only create jobs but also strengthen the overall economic structure in the region. In the coming months there may be an opportunity for local companies to open their doors to work with an international world leader.
