Clarification of missing persons cases
According to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), a person is classified as missing if they are absent without explanation and a threat to life or limb is suspected. In the case of minors, the police have the responsibility to intervene in view of the dangers to the young people and, in certain circumstances, they are taken into state custody. As of January 1, 2025, around 9,420 missing person cases were registered in Germany, with around 200 to 300 new cases being added every day. The clearance rate for missing young people is a high 97.4% [bka.de](https://www.bka.de/DE/ UnserAufgabe/Ermittlungsunterstuetzung/BearbeitungVermisstenfaelle/machenVermisstenfaelle.html).
Around 18,100 children were missing in 2024, of which 96.7% were identified by the end of the year. This shows the high efficiency of the investigative authorities and the importance of public participation in solving such cases.
It remains to be seen how the situation surrounding Zeinep will develop. The police are doing everything they can to find the girl as quickly as possible and are asking the public for attention and support. Every clue can be crucial in bringing Zeinep home safely.
