Construction site chaos in Warnemünde: Summer break for Rostocker Straße!

After the abdominal pitch in Warnemünde has sometimes caused considerable traffic impairments, there is now light at the end of the tunnel: the construction site on Rostocker Strasse is going into the summer break. From Tuesday, July 1st, the street will temporarily be passable again. This is a welcome relief for drivers and residents who have been strongly demanded in the past few months by numerous diversions and closures. But the construction site work is not yet completely over. In the northwestern area of ​​Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Straße there will still be a full closure, and in September the second construction phase between the organic market and the intersection to Fritz-Reuter-Straße starts. These measures are part of a comprehensive project that includes the renewal of the drinking water pipes in Rostocker Straße. Stadtwerke Rostock and the North Water company are in charge of here. Overall, the construction work should be completed in April next year. The costs for the renewal of the drinking water system amount to around 1.2 million euros.

Details for renovation

The renovation work that started on March 24 affect the main transport management for drinking water, which even goes back to parts until 1904. According to the City Administration Rostock is carried out in four construction sections. During the high season in July and August, the construction sites are interrupted for about eight weeks, so that traffic remains largely unaffected.

In order to disturb the traffic as little as possible, the old Bahnhofstrasse is mutually closed on half -sides, whereby each direction of travel remains navigable. Pedestrians can use the sidewalks, while there could be impairments in house connections. The city administration has great understanding of the challenges that this construction work brings, especially for residents and the shops in the area.

in parallel: district heating supply

The Stadtwerke Rostock take the opportunity and at the same time expand the district heating supply in the region. This is done in parallel with the civil engineering work, which the company Ties Tiesler Tief- und Hochbau GmbH from Waldeck carries out. After completing the work, the road blanket is also renewed to enable residents and road users to drive safely.

The entire project is therefore a real effort that not only serves to upgrade the infrastructure, but also optimizes the supply lines and improves the quality of life in Warnemünde by modern standards. We keep our fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly!
