Not only open questions about topics such as smartphone use are answered here, but also the reading for the digital day that took place on June 27th is discussed. Such initiatives are important because they support older people not only in the digital world, but also to actively participate in social life.
education and digital skills in old age
How important education and digital skills are for older people are confirmed by the federal ministry. It specifically supports senior citizens in using the advantages of digitization. Online banking, doctor's appointment bookings and video calls are just a few of the offers that make everyday life extremely easier. "Digital Pact of Age" and "Digital Engel Plus" are projects that aim to make digital technologies comprehensively accessible and to convey the necessary knowledge. It is ensured that the possibilities do not depend on gender, level of education or place of residence - everyone should be able to benefit, regardless of their previous knowledge.
The Digital Opportunities Foundation published the guideline "Digital Skillers for Older People" in this context. This guide not only offers instructions, but also examples of planning needs -based offers. A competent handling of digital media is now indispensable in order to be able to actively participate in social life. In addition to media literacy, it is also important that older people gain confidence in their own skills in order to see how to deal with digital media as a matter of course.
opportunities of digitization
Digitization offers many opportunities that can promote well -being and health of older people. The ESF-Plus funding program "Education and Commitment for a lifetime" (Bell), which starts on April 1, 2025, will probably be a further step in this direction. Initiatives such as the internet portal that thirsty for knowledge that provides event databases and materials contribute to the fact that older people find their way better in today's digital world.
The upcoming digital round table on July 21, 2025 is not only a nice occasion, but also a valuable opportunity to learn more about the digital world and to stay active. We cordially invite all interested senior citizens!
