Festive sounds: HMT Rostock's 30th summer campus starts today!

Rostock is all about music: On August 28, 2025, the starting signal was given for the 30th summer campus at the Rostock University of Music and Theater (HMT). Under the motto “Making Music Together,” numerous talented young musicians and renowned lecturers have come together to immerse themselves in the world of music. As a result, this is not only an opportunity to learn, but also a perfect platform to network and demonstrate your skills.

As already NDR reported, the summer campus will take place from August 28th to September 4th, 2025. The varied program includes six instrumental and one singing course, which are aimed at aspiring artists. Course participants can expect daily free public courses that take place in the HMT Chamber Music Hall.

Opening with a festive concert

The ceremonial opening of the summer campus took place in the Katharinensaal of the HMT, where the participants could look forward to an exciting chamber music performance. Among the participants were well-known musicians such as Cristina Gómez Godoy (oboe), Julian Bliss (clarinet) and Michael Barenboim (violin). You could hear works by great composers such as Debussy, Rachmaninoff and Piazzolla. The first impressions were promising, and the atmosphere was one of anticipation for the days ahead. But that's not all! The best course participants have the opportunity to go on tour with the North German Philharmonic Rostock and to perform three concerts. The first appearance is on September 3rd in the Bad Doberan Minster, followed by another concert on September 4th in the Bützow Abbey Church. The final show on September 5th in the Katharinensaal will be another highlight, where the knowledge and skills learned will be presented.

Music workshops and more

Special attention is also paid to the music workshops, which offer a relaxed atmosphere to jam together and enjoy the music. How on Summer music can be read, the participants have the freedom to decide how much of the teaching offer they would like to take advantage of. Whether for professionals or music lovers, everyone gets their money's worth here.

The ticket prices for the various events are attractive at 45 euros (reduced 35 euros). This ensures that a wide audience is addressed and music lovers have the opportunity to enjoy first-class performances. If that isn't reason enough to throw yourself into the music, we don't know!
