Hansa Rostock unleashes winning streak: catching up in the promotion race!

A game for the history books: Hansa Rostock celebrated a thrilling away win in Cologne last weekend. With a 4-2 win over Viktoria Köln, head coach Daniel Brinkmann's team achieved their first success away from home of the season. After six unsuccessful attempts, this victory was long overdue and noticeably increased the euphoria in the Rostock camp.
After the game, the club was happy about 17 points and is now in twelfth place in the table, five points behind SC Verl, who are currently in third place with 22 points. The next challenges are already on the horizon: next month the home game against SC Verl is on the agenda, followed by away games against SSV Ulm and Jahn Regensburg.

Rostock's offensive performance was particularly pleasing, as they scored four goals in this game for the first time this season. The shooters were Kenan Faktic, who scored twice from the penalty spot (50th, 55th), and Ryan Naderi, who caused the net to wobble in the first half (20th, 24th). Brinkmann used the same starting eleven as in the previous game, where Hansa defeated Wiesbaden 3-0. This consistency seems to be good for the team, as Hansa ended several of its own negative streaks with this victory.

A goalkeeper with a fighting heart

Benjamin Uphoff, who is in goal for Rostock, had to accept two penalties from Lex Tyger Lobinger, but was able to cheer on his teammates despite these setbacks. After the game, the 32-year-old Burghauser said that although the table after twelve rounds says something about the qualities of the teams, he firmly believes in a comeback. He and his teammates are determined to continue the positive trend and collect more points to achieve their goals.

Uphoff, who has been under contract with Hansa Rostock since July 1, 2024 and will remain with the Hanseatic League until 2026, enjoys great trust in the team. His height of 1.92 m and his confident style of play have made him an important part of the team. In the current season he shows that he is not only a solid support, but also a team player who motivates and cheers on his teammates.

The path continues

Of course, coach Brinkmann was just as optimistic after the game. He knew that success in Cologne could not be the goal, but rather a first step in the right direction. “We are not yet at the desired goal,” said Brinkmann, “but these games are important for our self-confidence.”
Hansa Rostock now sees itself in an exciting phase of the season that offers many opportunities for additional success. With hope in their hearts and team spirit in their luggage, we continue into the coming games in which the Rostock team wants to prove that they shouldn't underestimate anyone in the 2nd Bundesliga.
