Cards on the table: New game brings a breath of fresh air to Güstrow communities!

The autumn synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church District of Mecklenburg will be held in the charming town of Güstrow, more precisely in the Rostock district. This event on October 18, 2025 is all about the future structure and staff plans of the parish councils. Committed members come together to discuss important topics and develop innovative ideas. A highlight of the synod will be the presentation of a newly developed card game entitled“Cards on the table”company. This game includes an impressive 49 cards and is intended to provide fresh inspiration for community work. The cards are divided into categories such as near and far vision, companions and finances. In addition, there are special action cards with suggestions for dealing with digital formats in pastoral care, as NDR reports.

With a good knack for creative impulses, co-initiator Pastor Elisabeth Meyer from Rostock shows how important it is to promote exchange between communities. The synod continues to be mentioned in the regional news on NDR 1 Radio MV, which further underlines the relevance of this event.

New digital age

The church world is also facing further change: the new digital materials platform GO is currently being developed to make it easier for church employees to access relevant materials. This platform aims to unite various church actors and their content on a single website. Currently, materials are spread across many websites, which often makes searching for them a challenge. Users can quickly find materials on the platform using keyword searches, by material type, topic or target group. Even specific Bible passages can be accessed, making searching for content even easier. This is reported by eklb-digital.

A special treat: materials found can be saved in your own user account and adapted to your individual needs. In addition, users can integrate their own material and share it with others. GO not only promises sustainable material distribution, but also saves resources for church institutions, which should not be underestimated in today's world.

Perspectives for the future

Those responsible are relying on a broad basis: seven EKD member churches have already expressed interest in the platform. The official launch is planned for 2025, and many hope that GO will be a real asset to the work in the communities. Because, as the experience of the existing platform jugendarbeit.online shows - which has recorded over a million visits since its launch in 2019 - the need for such digital solutions is great.

With the autumn synod in Güstrow and the introduction of the new digital platform GO, it is clear that a strong wind is blowing in the Protestant community in Mecklenburg. Both innovative game concepts and modern digital solutions should help to revitalize community work and make it sustainable. The coming months promise to be exciting!
