Gnoien Cultural Exchange: 20 years of diversity for young and old!
The Gnoien cultural exchange is a true gem in the heart of the region and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Loud NDR Over the last two decades, the family center has developed into an important meeting place for young and old. Up to 25 different courses and events take place here every week, which promote and enrich the community's coexistence.
The range of courses on offer is varied and ranges from toddler groups for the little ones to choir singing and yoga for all age groups. This wide range is not only well received by those who have lived here for a long time; New faces also quickly find their place in the hustle and bustle of the cultural exchange. There are currently five permanent employees and 20 freelancers and volunteers responsible for ensuring that the program runs smoothly.
Diverse offers for the community
The cultural exchange offers a colorful mix of events: from cinema evenings to workshops and citizens' meetings, which are intended to promote exchange between different cultures and break down prejudices. These offers are intended for all age groups and social classes and have experienced a noticeable increase in visitors in recent years, such as the Kulturbörse website reported.
The goal of the cultural exchange is clear: It wants to give the region a future-oriented perspective and especially offer young people opportunities for personal and community development. In the coming years, the team would like to focus even more intensively on family education in order to better support the needs of young families.
Commitment to the region
An important partner in this effort is the German Foundation for Engagement and Volunteering (DSEE), which supports the cultural exchange with its “Engaged Land” program. The weekly course program and the networking of the clubs in Gnoien are made significantly easier by funding of around 260,000 euros annually. These funds are part of a wide range of support offers to strengthen local communities in underdeveloped rural areas, as the DSEE states on its website explained.
The Gnoien cultural exchange is therefore not only a place for encounters, it is also a platform that promotes social interaction through education and culture and thus makes a valuable contribution to the community. With an eye to the future, the center is committed to further positive developments and an open-hearted exchange that broadens the horizons of the participants.
