Shining tradition: Lantern parades brighten up Rostock in November!
Autumn brings not only cold and foggy weather, but also a plethora of events that can brighten the mood. There are numerous lantern parades on the program in Rostock and the surrounding area in November, which offer a wonderful opportunity not only for children to face the dreary autumn days. As the OSTSEE NEWSPAPER reported, the biggest event will take place on November 14th in Rostock's Ostseestadion, organized by FC Hansa. Several thousand participants are expected in this lantern parade, who will march from the parking lot at the arena through the Barnstorf Forest, along Trotsenburger Weg and Kopernikusstrasse to the stadium. The parade is accompanied by music from a wind orchestra from Rostock and Dorf Mecklenburg.
But that's not all. A lantern parade is also planned in the Toitenwinkel district on November 14th, which is organized in cooperation with daycare centers. Here you go from the Toitenwinkler Stern meeting point on Albert-Schweizer-Straße to the Bürgerpark.
Various lantern parades in November
On November 7th, a lantern run as part of the Rostock Light Week creates a festive atmosphere. The start is at 5.30 p.m. at the playground in the monastery garden, where participants have the opportunity to make their own lantern from 4 p.m. On St. Martin's Day, November 11th, various parades take place, including a very popular one in Warnemünde, which starts at 5:30 p.m. at the church square and moves through the charming streets of the Baltic Sea resort.
Lantern parades are also planned in Sanitz and Bentwisch on November 7th, while the parade starts in Ziesendorf on November 8th. Finally, November 15th features a lantern run in Stäbelow, which begins at 5 p.m. at the fire department.
More than just lantern parades
But the focus is not just on lantern parades. There is also a lot to discover in the art scene. Next weekend the last “Rostock Dance Party” will take place in the Kunsthalle Rostock, while in Teterow the exhibition “Kunstwinter” will open in the gallery at the train station. Special works by well-known artists are presented there in Christmas decorations. In Laage there is moonlight shopping on Saturday evening including a fashion show and laser show.
It will also be musically exciting: a string quartet from “Die Nixen” will play in the Kunsthalle Kühlungsborn on Saturday, and on Sunday the Jagdschloß Gelbensande Museum will be inviting you to the event with hot tea and a fireplace. For flea market fans, the flea market in Teterow opens its doors on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The colorful mix of lantern parades, cultural events and community activities makes this November in the Rostock region a special experience for young and old. It's the perfect opportunity to get together with family and friends and enjoy the autumn atmosphere.
