Malchin illuminates: The city is celebrating the end of the renovation!
On Friday evening, the city center of Malchin shone in colorful splendor. The “Malchin shines” event not only celebrated the end of the city's renovation, but also attracted numerous visitors who wanted to enjoy the colorful sea of lights. Ursel and Rainer, a retired couple, decided at short notice to visit the Light Night in their hometown instead of going to Rostock for the Light Week. And it was worth it!
Mayor Axel Müller welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of the renovation for the city and its citizens. “This event is a sign of progress,” quotes the mayor [nordkurier.de](https://www.nordkurier.de/regional/mecklenburgische-schweiz/fuer-einen-abend- Taucht-diese-kleinstadt-in-ein-buntes-lichtermeer-4080212).
A colorful program for all age groups
The evening offered a varied program. Actress Ute Kotte took on the role of “Erna Krause” and welcomed the guests from the town hall balcony. The atmosphere was perfect for a stroll through the city, and spectators were amazed by the laser beams that danced across the market square. A city tour with stilt walker Sven Lange took visitors to illuminated places such as the Stone Gate and St. John's Church, where the “General” told fascinating stories from the city's history.
Marie from the Rethra fire crew, who performed an impressive fire show at the church, provided additional atmosphere. However, there were also some critical voices because the performance started 15 minutes earlier than announced. Nevertheless, most guests were pleased with the high number of participants and the lively atmosphere that surrounded the event.
Musical highlights
The “Viva la Musica” choir gave the evening a special musical touch with its pop songs. During their performance, the colorful laser beams were projected, adding to the spectacular experience. The entire laser spectacle lasted about 12 minutes and left a lasting impression on those in attendance. Many expressed the wish for more such events in the fall to make the city even more lively.
The Night of Light in Malchin is a successful example of how communities can be brought together through creative events. Thanks to the initiatives of city representatives such as city councilor Manuela Rißer, who had the idea for the light display inspired by similar events in Stavenhagen, the city can continue to shine.
With so much positive feedback, it could well be that Malchin shines even more often in the future. After all, celebrating special moments together makes the community stronger!
