Rostock's City Sports Evening Run: For a good cause on July 23rd!
The 9th City Sports Evening Run will take place in the Barnstorf Forest in Rostock on July 23, 2025. This popular event, which is organized by City-Sport and the Laage sports club, has established itself as an integral part of Rostock's sports and cultural landscape in recent years. The evening run begins at 6 p.m. behind the ice rink at Schillingallee 41 and offers participants the opportunity to run on a 2.5 kilometer long circuit without time pressure and to do good.
The patron of this event is the support of the hospice at the Südstadt Rostock Hospital. All proceeds from the evening run go to this important institution, which supports terminally ill people in the final phase of their lives. Last year, 1,426 runners took part and contributed a total of 20,115 euros to the hospice's valuable work. The organizers have set themselves ambitious goals and want to exceed the record donation amount this year. Rathaus Rostock reports on the high expectations and great commitment of the participants.
Participation and registration
The participation fee is at least 10 euros, all of which goes to the hospice. Registrations are possible until July 22nd at the City Sport specialist store at Lange Straße 32 in Rostock. Those interested can also secure an event shirt as a registration gift. Important to note: Online registrations are not possible and registrations must be made using a self-printable form. The team at the City Sport store is available to answer any additional questions. City Sport invites all sports enthusiasts to take part again this year and run for a good cause.
A celebration for the whole family
The evening run should not only be a sporting event, but also a social gathering for the entire family. Catering will be provided on the day of the event, and little visitors can look forward to a bouncy castle and a runner tombola. The event is characterized not only by its sporting component, but also by the togetherness and shared fun. Looking back at the past few years shows the great connection that the people of Rostock have with the evening run and the gratitude of the organizers to the participants and helpers. City Sport highlights the importance of support and a sense of community.
The hospice movement is an important initiative that arose from the need to respectfully support terminally ill people in their final phase of life. As Johanniter explains, supporting the dying and their relatives is essential in order to promote an open approach to the topic of saying goodbye. The importance of voluntary support is particularly emphasized, as this is what characterizes hospice work.
The donations collected from the evening run can be used to support various projects, such as training volunteers and providing therapeutic materials. This not only covers immediate needs, but also ensures long-term help for those affected. The organizers are doing everything they can to ensure that the city sports evening run is a complete success and are looking forward to numerous participants.
