Preparations for the popular Hanse Sail in Rostock and Warnemünde, which will take place from August 7th to 10th, 2025, are in full swing. This year it's all about the digital age: A new team of 12 students from the University of Rostock has taken over the Hanse Sail TikTok channel and not only wants to increase the number of followers, but also make the maritime experience more attractive for a younger audience. The students, who come from the fields of communication science and teaching, have set themselves the goal of quadrupling the number of followers from the current 281 to at least 1,000 in just seven weeks. An innovative concept with a breath of fresh air
The team thoroughly analyzed the TikTok algorithm and developed a menu of formats that are both informative and entertaining. Weekly content with two to three new videos is planned that will focus on Rostock's maritime heritage. As a highlight, they are planning a competition for an exclusive trip during the Hanse Sail to promote interest and interactions.
Moritz Naumann, the lecturer of the “Press & Public Relations at Hanse Sail” seminar, explains that the collaboration between the students and the Hanse Sail office leads to a win-win situation.
