A lot is happening in Schwerin: From November 7th to 9th, 2025, the Center for Culture and Entertainment will be transformed into a forum for literature and music. The city is all about the Schwerin Literature Days, enriched with exciting concerts and happy parties. A true festival for all culture enthusiasts!
The program starts on Friday, November 7th with the “KiJuLi – Week for Children’s and Young People’s Literature”. At 9.30 a.m. there will be a children's reading by Yvonne Hergane in the Neu Zippendorf district library, where she will present her book “Mr. Schuhuhu von Waldesruh”. Important: Advance registration is required!
Tradition and celebration
Also on Friday, visitors can expect the “Flotte Weihnacht” Christmas market in front of the castle, which is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Here guests can stroll in a pre-Christmas atmosphere and try local delicacies. The Schwerin Martensmarkt opens at 3 p.m., where you can celebrate medieval market activity and the arrival of the Martensman on Sunday at 2 p.m. A lantern parade on Friday evening and a campfire with stick bread provide additional cosiness.
Those interested in education can take part in the open day at the Goethegymnasium from 4 p.m., where future music classes will be presented. A little later, at 6:30 p.m., the crime comedy “The Hen Party Killer” begins in Schwerin Castle, which is guaranteed to provide some exciting moments.
Music lovers also get their money's worth on Friday: several musical highlights start at different locations from 7:30 p.m. From the “Simon & Garfunkel Revival Band” in the Schelfkirche to “VIVA LA VIDA – A Tribute to Coldplay” in the Zenit Club, there is something for every taste.
A weekend full of sounds and adventure
Things will be particularly exciting on Saturday, November 8th. The “Arena Rave” takes place in the sports and congress hall with the headliner “Klangkuenstler”. A real party night for all fans of electronic music! At the same time, the opening concert of the “Days of Exile” will take place in the theater tent in the kitchen garden, at which the opera choir and the Mecklenburg State Orchestra will present exile compositions.
The “Searching for Home” EP release tour opens at the complex at 7 p.m., showcasing new work “Not Your Face.” And for rock fans there is the rock show “Day of the Heroes” in Speicher at 9 p.m.
On Sunday, November 9th, visitors can visit a flea and junk market at Berliner Platz from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Antiques and rare finds are just waiting to be discovered. There will also be a tour about “Jewish life in Schwerin history”, which begins at 3 p.m. at Schlachtermarkt and for which registration is also required.
The crowning conclusion of the weekend is the final concert of the “Forbidden Music” workshop at 4 p.m. in the conservatory, which is open to everyone with free admission. And at 6 p.m. there will be a memorial service at Schlachtermarkt, where Mayor Sebastian Ehlers will remember the Kristallnacht pogrom.
