Schwerin State Museum celebrates its grand reopening with a party!
The wait is over! On October 30th, the State Museum at the Old Garden in Schwerin will finally open its doors again after extensive renovation. The reopening of the museum will be celebrated with a big celebration where visitors will be surprised with free entry. At 3 p.m., Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig, Culture Minister Bettina Martin and Dr. Pirko Zinnow gave the floor and officially opened the new exhibition rooms.
A total of four years of construction have resulted in 400 square meters of additional exhibition space now being available. This not only enables a more beautiful presentation, but also an expansion of the museum concept with digital and interactive offerings. How Uckermark courier reports, the celebration will be rounded off by variety artists and walking acts who will entertain the audience in front of the building.
A diverse program
The museum festival will be opened musically by the choir of the Mecklenburg State Theater. As the event continues, guests can look forward to special performances. From 3:45 p.m. the Mecklenburg State Theater will present a creative interpretation of works of art. And for lovers of classical music, the chamber orchestra “ensemble reflector” will be in action from 4:30 p.m. to offer an unforgettable sound experience in the new exhibition rooms.
The crowning conclusion to the day will be a spectacular light projection that will shine into the evening sky at 6 p.m. The museum will remain open until 10 p.m. on the day it reopens, so that anyone interested can experience the new exhibition in peace.
A look behind the scenes
Even in the planning phase, the entire project was based on a basis of nine million euros, which was invested in the renovations and expansions. In addition to the new exhibition areas and digital offerings, the general infrastructure was also modernized. Comprehensive equipment in the rooms now ensures an appealing ambience in which art and culture can be experienced in a new way. Further information about this can be found at Cultural property.
The reopening of the museum not only marks the end of a long chapter of renovation, but also marks a new beginning for a cultural place of importance in Schwerin. Take advantage of the opportunity and be part of this special event that will surely be remembered.
