German Unity Day: Celebrations, festivals and fun in the Sternberg area!
On October 3, 2025, the long weekend on the occasion of German Unity Day will be duly celebrated in the region around Sternberg, Brüel and Warin. Let's start with the popular **Market Day in Rothen**, which has been a fixture on the calendar since 2002. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., regional craftsmen and businesses will show their products. Here, visitors can witness traditional manufacturing processes - pressing juice, sharpening knives or browsing stalls selling ceramics and handmade clothing. Your physical well-being is also taken care of: there is a variety of food and drinks available and entry is free; there is only a parking fee of 1 euro.
Historical experiences in the open-air museum
A very special item on the agenda awaits guests in Groß Raden: The event **Food preparation like 1,000 years ago** attracts history lovers big and small on this holiday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In the open-air area of the Archaeological Open-Air Museum, everything revolves around the time-honored cooking skills of the Slavs and Vikings. Visitors can try cooking in clay pots, preparing fish in a clay coating or baking oatmeal cakes. Entrance fees are 3.50 euros for adults, families pay 7 euros, while children under 6 are free. This ends the museum season with a large medieval camp that impresses with numerous activities and culinary delights.
The **cinema in Warin** is offering the youth film “All for Ella” at 5 p.m. and the German crime thriller “Scorched Earth” at 8 p.m. on the same day. Film lovers can end the evening here and be transported into the world of film for just 5 euros.

Music lovers will also get their money's worth. The concert **“Affaire Béla B.”** with Martina Weidner, Theo Jörgensmann and Ernst Deuker will be held in Brüel from 7:30 p.m. The music is inspired by Béla Bartók and promises a wonderful sound experience.
The long weekend offers even more: On October 4th, the **Oktoberfest in Dabel** will take place at the Kur- und Landhotel Borstel Treff, which will treat guests to a Bavarian buffet and entertainment from 6 p.m. On the same evening, a **Festival in Sternberg** invites you to take a musical journey back in time to the 1980s and 90s. Here you can enjoy nostalgic sounds and a great atmosphere for “a small thaler”.
The **Glammeseelauf** in Warin on October 5th from 10 a.m. offers numerous routes for sports enthusiasts, from 21 km to a child-friendly 5 km. Here are six different distances that have something for everyone.
At the end of the long holidays, the **Apple Festival in Kaarz** on October 5th from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. attracts with live music, a country market full of regional products and varied activities for the little ones. A great program is offered here for 3 euros entry (children up to 15 years are free), including a herding demonstration and pony rides, while the palate can delight in grilled food.
