Spend the night next to lions: New lion lodge opened in Schwerin Zoo!
An exciting new adventure awaits visitors to Schwerin Zoo: The Lion Lodge opens up overnight accommodation right next to the lion enclosure. Experience-hungry guests can spend the night here in direct contact with the majestic big cats and look forward to a unique experience. Ostsee-Zeitung reports that the lodge is ideal for animal lovers and adventurous overnight stays.
But that's not all the zoo has to offer. Another highlight is the tree house, which was designed as a research hut in the style of Alexander von Humboldt. With a living space of 40 m², the tree house offers space for up to six people. The tastefully furnished hut has a lounge and cooking area with a refrigerator, toaster, hob and kettle, and there are three sleeping niches for rest at night: one for bookworms, one for children with dolls and teddy bears and a romantic dovecote for couples in love. Zoo Schwerin emphasizes that the bathroom has a shower and toilet and that guests can enjoy a wonderful view of the animal neighbors, including peccaries and coatis, from a balcony.
A paradise to relax
A cozy retreat with an extensive game collection and lots of books awaits guests. For added convenience, the tree house is equipped with heating devices, so that even colder evenings don't have a detrimental effect on the fun. Guests can visit the zoo until closing time, allowing views of the animals until nightfall. Additional animal encounters or exclusive evening tours can be booked depending on availability. Glampings adds that a playground in the immediate vicinity and the zoo shop provide snacks and souvenirs.
There are numerous excursion destinations in the area surrounding the lodge and treehouse that will delight explorers. Lake Schwerin can be reached in a few minutes on foot, while Schwerin's old town and the residential ensemble can be reached in about 30 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by car. If you are looking for relaxation after an active day, you will also find the Faule and Ostdorfer lakes nearby.
New leadership in the diakonia and festive events
While visitors to the zoo enjoy the adventure, there is also news from the Diakonie Westmecklenburg-Schwerin. Catrin Hollmann-Dreyer will take over the position of commercial director on November 1st and will bring a breath of fresh air to the group of companies, which operates around 60 social institutions and employs around 1,000 people. Ostsee-Zeitung describes that she wants to tackle the challenges with a good knack.
There is also a special event coming up at the “Zenit” club: the spooky rave will take place on November 30th, which will create an eerie atmosphere. With appropriate decoration and the option of costumes, the evening will be a highlight in the region. Costumes are optional, meaning each guest can decide how much they fit into the eerie atmosphere.
This shows that in Schwerin it is not just the zoo with its new overnight accommodation that is attracting visitors, but also cultural highlights and social commitment go hand in hand.
