SSC Schwerin: Captain Hölzig declares war before the Supercup in Dresden!
The volleyball players from SSC Schwerin are facing an exciting challenge: next Saturday, October 3rd, 2025, they will travel to the Supercup in Dresden to compete against the cup winners, Dresdner SC. It's a memorable day for the team, because the last title in the Supercup dates back to 2020. Head coach Felix Koslowski and his players want to repeat this success and aim high.
But the way there is not that easy. This summer, SSC Schwerin went through a significant upheaval. Nine players have left the club, while eight new talents have joined the team. “We have a young and newly assembled team that has a lot of potential, but also needs time to grow together,” explains Koslowski, dampening expectations for the upcoming encounter. In a short training camp in Turkey, the Schwerin women were able to further develop their fitness and tactics, concluding their friendly matches against Göztepe with a win (3:2) and a defeat (1:3). These experiences helped to identify important weak points in the team and to specifically improve them during training.
On the way to the championship
Preparations are in full swing, especially after SSC Schwerin's impressive performance in the current season. In the best-of-five series for the German championship, they have already recorded two clear victories against Dresdner SC. In the last game, the Schwerin women won 3-0 and showed right from the start who was the master of the house: they led 5-0 in the first set and couldn't let the lead be taken away from them. A similar picture emerged in the second and third sets, where they also clearly had the upper hand. SSC captain Anne Hölzig was surprised by the clear dominance and praised the team for the excellent performance they were able to deliver.
The Schwerin women are optimistic about the upcoming duel. Leana Grozer, who was named MVP, can't wait for the next game. "It just feels good to perform so strongly. We know what's at stake and we're ready for it," she said excitedly. After a long wait since 2018, the team has the chance to win the 13th German championship, having previously won seven titles in the GDR.
Dresdner SC, which recently won in the semi-finals against MTV Stuttgart, is aiming for a national double with great ambitions. The players from Dresden will do everything they can to prove themselves in front of their home crowd and defend the title.
On Saturday at 5:15 p.m. we will see whether the young SSC Schwerin team can master the challenges. It promises to be an exciting encounter in which the fans on site and in front of the screens can get excited.
