Fire brigade competition and festival in Neetzow: A day for young and old!

In Neetzow, where tradition and community spirit are very important, the local fire brigade ritual continued on Saturday. The fire brigade teams of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district held an exciting competition event that captivated the spectators. The men's team from Neuenkirchen, which won the final, was particularly committed as the organizer. Military leader Guido Wegner expressed his gratitude for the support that made this event possible. Neetzow-Liepen, Medow, Postlow, Ducherow and Zinzow were also represented among the participating men's teams. On the women's side, teams from Medow, Postlow, Rubkow and Murchin shone.

Exciting competitions and victories

On the day of the competition, the men's team from the Mesekenhagen Volunteer Fire Department proved to be the fastest and won the wet firefighting attack with an impressive time of 24.90 seconds. In the women's race, the team from Neetzow-Liepen triumphed with 36.07 seconds. This discipline, in which the teams have to pull out hoses in a race and fill a target device with water, provided many exciting moments that were followed with enthusiasm by numerous spectators, such as the Baltic Sea newspaper reported.

Particularly noteworthy is the participation of district administrator Michael Sack and his deputy Dietger Wille, who joined the competition as the “district” guest team. Unfortunately, a political team had to cancel due to the MV Day taking place at the same time in Greifswald. This paved the way for exciting competitions that impressively demonstrated the practical commitment of the firefighters.

Community festival and activities for everyone

In addition to the exciting competitions, the community festival in Neetzow provided additional attractions. The coffee table at “Die Glühwürmchen” daycare center opened at 12 p.m. Culinary offerings such as pea stew and grilled food ensured physical well-being, while the little artists from the daycare center presented their stage program at 2 p.m. Later highlights included a children's magic show and a performance by the dance group “Dance Revolution”.

And the evening also had promising entertainment: a DJ provided the atmosphere from 7 p.m., followed by a live concert with the “Disharmonists” at 8 p.m. The day was packed with attractions such as bouncy castles, a make-up station and stalls, which brought a lot of fun to the community and especially thrilled the children.

On Sunday, the last day of the festival weekend, a bicycle demonstration for more cycle paths in the Peenetal and other planned activities at the sports field were on the program from 10 a.m. Participation in the bicycle demo, which led over the B110 to Klein Toitin, offered not only a sporting but also a communal experience. Back at the sports field from 12 p.m. there was free beer, barbecue and a varied music program, a nice conclusion with the Fritz Reuter Ensemble and the appearance of a Udo Lindenberg double.

Not only was a fire brigade event celebrated in Neetzow, but the community was also strengthened and many wonderful memories were created. The cohesion and commitment of the residents show that Neetzow has a good hand when it comes to tradition and cohesion.
