On Saturday, November 2nd, 2025, the popular kite festival in Greifswald will be going into its fifth round! On the landfill mountain, kite lovers big and small can look forward to a colorful program from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. With its spacious areas, the venue promises the perfect ambience for happy kite flying, where a wide variety of kite figures, including fascinating butterflies and graceful octopuses, will take to the skies.

The Dragon Festival not only attracts with colorful celestial figures, but also with exciting attractions. The Fallschirmsportverein Mecklenburg e.V. will present its tricks at lofty heights – provided the weather cooperates, of course. Another highlight is the opportunity for children to become active themselves: at a craft station they can create their own kites out of wood, paper and string. Young visitors can also expect an extensive program that includes face painting, a bouncy castle and an exciting scavenger hunt with great prizes for different age groups.

Activities and arrival

If you would like to bring your own kites, you are welcome to do so or let your creativity run wild and design a kite on site. A quiz in which you can also win prizes provides additional excitement. The whole event is characterized by a variety of hands-on activities: movement games, small experiments and of course a good bit of entertainment through music contribute to the festive atmosphere.

A free shuttle bus, which runs between the central bus station and the landfill from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., ensures a comfortable journey. Alternatively, environmentally conscious visitors can use their bicycles, for which there are enough parking spaces. Of course, there are also parking options for drivers - either at the museum harbor on Salinenstrasse or on the HanseYachts AG premises.

A celebration for the whole family

This year, the organizers have once again set a clear focus on a family-friendly atmosphere. Of course, your physical well-being is taken care of, so that enjoyment is not neglected at this festival. This year, the kite festival in Greifswald is being supported by local companies, including Cheplapharm Arzneimittel GmbH, which is supporting the event as a new partner.

There is great anticipation for the kite festival, and so nothing stands in the way of a colorful day full of fun and action. Come by and be inspired by the flying works of art and the hustle and bustle!
