In the heart of Greifswald, there will soon be new fashionable accents! With the move of "Mein Fischer" into the cathedral center, the shopping center is enriched by another anchor tenant. On September 4, 2023, the 20th branch of the traditional family company, which has its origin in Taucha near Leipzig, will open. Managing Director Ulrich Fischer now leads the business in the sixth generation and brings a breath of fresh air to the region's stores. In recent years, the company has steadily expanded its brand portfolio and is now ready to gain a foothold in northern Germany. This expansion is particularly gratifying because the previous tenant, the Jesske fashion house, had to close at the beginning of the year, which led to a vacancy in the shopping arcade. Ostsee-Zeitung and Textilwirtschaft report that the talk of a multilabel concept includes women's and manual fashion.
On a spacious area of 1000 m², women's fashion on the lower floor is initially offered for sale. From March 2024, the men should also be dressed, while the upper floor area is not to be put into operation until spring 2027. Five former Jesske employees have already hired “Mein Fischer”, which shows that the new business relies on the region's experiences. Together with Greifswald's mayor and buildator, Ulrich Fischer will be looking for an exchange on July 16, 2023 to further consolidate the company's commitment in the city.

The cathedral center's infrastructure was already brought up in 2018 with an investment of over 10 million euros. Among other things, this was made possible by the Jesske family, which is 2.5 million euros in the project. The impressive rondell with a skylight on the ground floor is an architectural highlight that underlines the attractiveness of the shopping center. With the comeback of "Mein Fischer", the cathedral center is now enriched by another attractive point that moves both residents and visitors to the city center.
The expansion in northern Germany underlines the ambitions of "Mein Fischer". The company already has branches in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, so that the step to Greifswald is further evidence of trust in regional brand development. The plans are clear: quality, diversity and first -class shopping experience are at the top of the list.
