Drug deaths on Rügen: Police investigate, health fair started!
In the last few days there has been tragic news from Sagard: two men aged 42 and 44 were found lifeless in an apartment. The police have started an investigation to clarify the possible cause of death. Initial indications point to drug poisoning from contaminated drugs, which is why both an autopsy and toxicological tests were ordered. The results of these examinations are expected in several weeks, which is causing concern for those affected and their families.
In the midst of these tragic events, a colorful peace demonstration took place in Bergen, attended by around 500 people. The event offered a wide range of program items, including music, cabaret and political speeches. However, this also attracted a small group of activists from “Fridays for Future Rügen” who held a counter-rally. Despite the different opinions, both meetings remained peaceful and showed citizens' commitment to political issues.
Health fair on Rügen
In addition to the events in Bergen, there will be a health fair on Rügen, which will be held in the Kaufland market on November 6th and 7th. Around 20 regional companies are taking part and offering information stands on care and health services. This fair aims to raise awareness of health issues and inform the public about available resources.
The issue of drug abuse and addiction is a particular focus, especially after recent incidents. Health education is an effective way to address this crisis. Education about the dangers of drug abuse and the signs of addiction can make a decisive contribution to prevention. Budip emphasizes that preventive measures should be taken, especially in schools, to reach children and young people.
Appreciation of voluntary commitment
Another positive aspect in the region is the “Western Pomerania Club Heroes” campaign, which was launched by the Ostsee-Zeitung and the Sparkasse Vorpommern. This initiative recognizes voluntary commitment in the region and distributes a total of 14,000 euros to four selected clubs. The nomination period runs until November 18th, providing an excellent opportunity for everyone who is committed to their community.
The news situation is rounded off with a look at local agriculture: Farmer Torsten Lass is currently in the process of renovating the old horse stable on an estate in Obermützkow. The stable, which dates back to 1860, needs extensive renovation work, particularly in the floor area. The work is expected to be completed by summer next year - a further sign of the region's revitalization.
