Glasbahnhof is transformed: New event center on Rügen!
In recent weeks there have been both encouraging and worrying developments on the beautiful island of Rügen. While the Rügen tourism association is in the process of restructuring itself, some hikers still show little respect for the dangers of the cliffs, which the authorities have strongly criticized.
A shining example of the positive changes is the Sassnitz glass station, which is to be redesigned by Wilhelm Kaul as a modern event location. The Glass Station, built in 1959 as a ferry terminal, hosts a number of exciting events. The first big celebration, the Sail GP after-show party, has already taken place, and further events such as Christmas parties, weddings and concerts are being planned. Kaul also took care of vandalism damage and renewed the infrastructure for electricity, water and gas.
Risk when climbing at Cape Arkona
Unfortunately, there is not only reason to be happy. On the cliff near Cape Arkona
In order to get there safely, holidaymakers have a variety of travel options available. If you come by car, you can take the A20 Baltic Sea motorway to the B96 and then continue to the L30 to Altenkirchen. If there is heavy traffic, there is also an alternative route that takes you via the Wittow ferry. Further details about ferry times and bus connections are available below White fleet and rpnv.de to find.
Changes in the tourism association
A central issue is also the winding up of the “Baltic Project” subsidiary Rügen Tourism Association. Trends and round table discussions are intended to support the goal of strengthening cooperation between municipalities and companies. The industry expects that new structures and solid financing from the state will secure the future of tourism on Rügen.
Couldn't things go better? Fraudsters from Vorpommern-Rügen have swindled over 500,000 euros, including Tobias Neumann from Stralsund, who lost 4,000 euros in supposed investments in cryptocurrencies. The police are investigating at full speed, but unfortunately success is rare.
Another interesting event in the region is the paratrooper training in Barth. 50 soldiers from Paratrooper Regiment 31 train to free fall from 3,650 meters. Spectators are only permitted from a safe distance. Up to 30 jumps per participant are planned until Saturday, and the airspace over Barth will remain closed during this time.
