Stralsund celebrates: Christmas buffet and duck to go from shipyard chefs!

The “shipyard chefs” in Stralsund have made a name for themselves in the region and are now setting new standards at the end of the year with a special Christmas offer. As the Baltic Sea newspaper reports, a Christmas buffet with an extensive duck and goose feast will be offered from the 1st of Advent. On Advent Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests can look forward to delicious food and a festive atmosphere, which is rounded off by musical performances by choirs and orchestras. Santa Claus reads stories and brings presents for the little ones.

The “shipyard chefs” have undergone rapid development in recent years. A year ago, after a renovation, they reopened the doors to the commercial kitchen at the Stralsund Volkswerft in building 340. A look behind the scenes shows that the... Dock 'N' Roll Kitchen is at work. With 82 employees, an incredible 7,900 portions are prepared and delivered every day - a remarkable jump from 3,900 portions the previous year. The company that runs the “Werftkoche” was founded in 2024 by Nico Bothe and Christopher Hellmann and is now the largest caterer in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Responsible commitment

Another highlight is the charity gala on December 20th, where a festive Christmas dinner is served to those in need. The Bundesliga volleyball players and footballers from ESV Lok are selling tickets for a raffle, the proceeds of which will go to children's cancer charities - a nice gesture that shows that they are not only looking out for their own benefit, but are also thinking about the community.

The catering sector is generally booming. According to the latest figures from the Statista In Germany alone, the industry is a real sales giant with almost 13 billion euros in 2023. The professional provision of food and drinks in various locations is constantly increasing. In 2024, there were around 12,100 catering companies in Germany, which underlines the great demand. The main business area remains schools and catering for large events, where the “shipyard chefs” are also ideally positioned.

Special offers for the holidays

For those who don’t want to cook for themselves over the holidays, the “Werftkoche” is offering a “duck to go” service on December 24th, 25th and 26th. Orders here need to be made in advance to ensure that all festive wishes are fulfilled. To increase anticipation of the festival, the company also offers a wishing tree where children can hide their wishes. These balls are available for 20 euros and also benefit a good cause.

Prices for the holiday menu range from 59 euros for duck and venison for two people to 109 euros for a goose for four people, each plus 10 euros for delivery. This ensures that the festive table is not only rich but also delicately set.

The “shipyard chefs” are therefore ideally positioned to delight the people of Cologne during Advent and offer them unforgettable culinary experiences. So if you are still looking for a special Christmas meal, a visit here is absolutely worth it and will let the pre-Christmas season shine in all its splendour.
