Stralsund is celebrating: 18 new babies and a birth record in July!
In the 28th calendar week, between July 7th and 13th, the Helios Klinikum Stralsund celebrated the birth of 13 little citizens. Among the newborns is Leni Lilly, who was born on July 7th at 4:06 p.m. and will live in Sassnitz.
Malte was born on July 8th at 12:48 p.m., followed by Melina Sophie Ahrend and Matheo David Wegner, who were born on July 11th. A real birth boom continued in the 29th calendar week, in which a total of 18 children were born. Among them is Leonard Handschuh, born on July 15th, and Ben, who came into the world on July 16th. Another highlight of this week was the birth of Hanna-Lena Hauschild on July 18th.
Growth in birth rates
As helios-gesundheit.de reports, the team around senior doctor Wiebke Duwe does not remain idle: The high number of births reflects the commitment and professionalism that expectant parents are offered in the delivery room. This positive development is linked to close cooperation between the clinic staff and the midwives at the Hebammenanker am Sund.
In 2024, the Helios Hanseklinikum Stralsund recorded a remarkable increase in the number of births. Clinic managing director Franzel Simon emphasizes the importance of all employees, from midwives to doctors to nurses, who work together to ensure a safe and beautiful birth.
Popular names and trends
The most popular boy names of 2024 included Noah, Karl and five names in third place: Levi, Luca, Malte and Milan. For the girls, Ella, Leni and Charlotte were at the top. These trends not only show which names are popular at the moment, but also a certain continuity in parents' preferences.
These touching moments and the increasing birth rates are no coincidence. The birth rate has undergone an exciting development in recent years in many regions of Germany, including Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. As destatis.de explains, the historical birth rate is determined via the combined fertility rate (TFR), which indicates how many children a woman would have on average.
A conservation level of 2.07 children per woman marks the goal for a stable population. The regional differences in the TFR and the influences of different age structures are crucial when considering these numbers.
So it remains to be said: The last few weeks at the Helios Klinikum Stralsund have not only seen a large number of births, but also show that parenthood and the desire to grow a family are still very popular.
