Frankfurt Pride Month 2025: Celebration of diversity on the Römerberg!

Frankfurt Pride Month 2025 got off to an exhilarating start on the Römerberg. At this festival, which began today, June 20, 2025, Mayor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg ceremoniously opened the program. The entire Pride Month extends until Christopher Street Day (CSD) on July 18th and offers a successful platform for the visibility of the queer community.

Under the motto “Pride for all!” It's all about the colorful diversity and the concerns of LGBTIQ* people in Frankfurt. A total of 32 events are planned in 15 districts, according to the organizers of Diversity Moves Frankfurt. This year's edition aims to make intersectional queer life visible and goes far beyond the traditional rainbow district.

A colorful program

The start offered a feast for the ears with a reception in the Roman Halls, at which around 500 singers from 19 choirs from the “Schreiline” festival performed. The stage show “WeArtHere!” on Friday evening attracted numerous visitors, including melodious performances by artists such as Lele Cocoon who enchanted the audience. A program entitled “Frankfurt’s Queer-Finest” with drag and performance is planned for Saturday.

The Schreiline Festival, which runs over the weekend at the Griesheim community center, not only serves as entertainment, but also plays an important role in promoting the visibility of the queer community. In view of the increasing repression that has characterized the past few years, this is an important concern that Pride Month wants to do justice to, according to Tixio.

Visibility and solidarity

The initiative to celebrate Pride Month could not be more timely. It is a reaction to the experiences of discrimination that many LGBTIQ* people experience in their everyday lives. As the Greens emphasize, increased visibility is key to education and dialogue about these issues. Pride Month is intended to create space for reflection and education to promote better understanding and cohesion.

The event planners have also provided funding of 50,000 euros to enable clubs and initiatives to hold their own events. This fact underpins the city’s commitment to hearing and supporting diverse voices.

Overall, Frankfurt Pride Month 2025 represents a strong sign of solidarity and is an invitation to all citizens to get actively involved. Whether at street festivals, readings or panel discussions - everyone can become part of this important event and set an example for diversity together.
