Cultural diversity in Saxony-Anhalt: 30 projects start now!

On June 22, 2025, there will be good news for Germany's rural regions: 30 cultural projects were announced in Berlin as part of the "Aller.Land - shape together. Strengthen structures" program. These initiatives are designed to sustainably promote the cultural landscape and citizen participation in structurally weak areas. The federal government has committed to making over one million euros available for the implementation of these projects by 2030. This is great news for the committed local people who want to actively shape their living conditions, as kulturstaatsminister.de reports.

The initiative includes several exciting projects, including the “Youth Art School for Cultural Explorers” in the Altmark district of Salzwedel and the project “Continuities, Breaks, Outlook (KOBRA)” in the Wittenberg district. The latter is dedicated to exploring the local cultural landscape and offers annual artist residencies to bring regional elements and stories to light. The youth art school also focuses on cultural education for children and young people, with “glass studios” offering creative spaces for various projects, according to magdeburger-news.de.

Diversity and participation

The “Aller.Land” program, which was launched in 2023, aims to create encounters and include underrepresented groups in the process of cultural design. It is particularly aimed at young people, seniors, newcomers and people with disabilities. In doing so, it not only wants to strengthen cultural diversity, but also promote active participation in the community. The characteristics of the funded projects are community-building approaches and a strong regional focus. Any ideas for new formats, such as art and village residencies, also offer numerous opportunities for participation, explains allerland-programm.de.

In the first year, 97 regions took part in the program, with each region receiving funding of 40,000 euros to develop viable concepts for innovative projects. There is a lot of room for creativity. The projects now selected will be able to test their concepts until mid-2030, which represents a great step towards a more vibrant cultural scene in rural areas.

Greetings from politics

The jury's decision was welcomed by State Minister Rainer Robra and Agriculture Minister Sven Schulze. They emphasized the importance of cultural projects for rural areas, where measures that strengthen cohesion make a decisive contribution to quality of life. Robra emphasizes the cultural diversity of Saxony-Anhalt and is pleased about the positive development of the cultural projects that will become reality in the coming years.

Overall, it shows that a lot can be achieved with commitment and good ideas. The planned projects are without a doubt an invitation to everyone to actively participate in the cultural development of their homeland and to work for creative solutions to local challenges. This creates a colorful and diverse cultural landscape that strengthens the community.
