Sporting veteran Ludger Rölecke dies – mourning in Anhalt-Bitterfeld!

The sports world in Anhalt-Bitterfeld mourns the loss of an important personality: Ludger “Luggi” Rölecke has died. The football coach leaves a void that will be difficult to fill. Rölecke was well known in the region, especially in the old district of Köthen, where he led over 250 games as a football coach. Clubs such as BSC Biendorf, Chemie Rodleben, FV Merzien, SG Reppichau II and CFC Germania can look back on his impressive footsteps. His empathy and tireless commitment to youth were appreciated by many.

CFC Germania aptly describes him as a mentor, motivator and friend who has accompanied generations of players. To express their sadness for Rölecke, the club's men's teams wore mourning ribbons at the weekend. “We would like to pay our last respects to him,” says coach Markus Molzahn and emphasizes the close friendship with Rölecke. In Merzien he will be remembered as a special companion and patient listener.

A life for sport

The sadness over the loss of Rölecke is also reflected on social media, where numerous clubs have expressed their condolences. 1. FC Bi-Wo dedicated its 3-1 home win against Stahl Aken to his late friend and coach. The second team of 1. FC Bitterfeld-Wolfen also honored their 3-1 win against Stahl Aken in memory of Rölecke. However, his commitment did not rest exclusively on the football field. Rölecke was also active as a team manager for the handball sports community HG 85 Köthen, where he was particularly committed to supporting young talent. HG President Marcus Pesth praised Rölecke's honest opinion and his tireless commitment to young talent.

After almost nine years, Rölecke also gave up management of the THW local branch in Spandau for professional reasons. This decision was made in February 2023 when a new local representative was elected. When the certificate was handed over, the helpers present applauded to thank Rölecke for his leadership through troubled times and his commitment. Despite his resignation, he will remain with the local association and it is hoped that there will be a trusting collaboration with his successor Kai, who is already working as the local youth representative.

The memory lives on

Rölecke is remembered by his friends and former protégés as a sporting veteran of the region. His influence will live on in the stories of the many young athletes he shaped. During this time of loss, it is important to share the positive memories and maintain honor for the values he instilled. The Anhalt-Bitterfeld sports district has lost a loyal supporter, friend and mentor.
