Telekom expands mobile network in Anhalt-Bitterfeld to 98% coverage!

Mobile phone coverage in Anhalt-Bitterfeld is enjoying a strong boost. In recent weeks, Deutsche Telekom has been working diligently on two new antenna locations, increasing household coverage to an impressive 98 percent. This is real progress for the region, as demand for bandwidth is booming and increasing by around 30 percent annually. This expansion is particularly important along the Saxony-Anhalt-South railway line, where the new locations were located.

With a total of 73 locations in the district, Telekom plays a central role in improving mobile phone coverage. In the next three years, 16 additional locations are planned in order to optimally serve less developed areas. The expansion of 30 existing mobile phone sites, which will be upgraded with LTE and 5G, is also on the agenda. Such steps are crucial as the increasing use of digital services in education, business and our daily lives cannot be underestimated.

Incidentally, the new cell phone locations are not only important for everyday use, but they also play a crucial role in emergency communication. With technologies such as Advanced Mobile Location (AML), which automatically transmits the location of a caller during emergency calls, citizen safety is noticeably increased. The Cell Broadcast warning system, which sends danger messages directly to the cell phones in the affected radio cell, is also an important feature of the new infrastructure.

Growth and development

Overall, Telekom is continuing its efforts to further expand the mobile communications landscape regionally. The company currently runs more than 36,000 mobile phone locations throughout Germany and brings around 1,500 new locations online every year. This not only shows Telekom's commitment to Anhalt-Bitterfeld, but also to the entire infrastructure development in Germany. 19 additional locations are planned in the district by 2026, which will further strengthen the region.
