Telekom strengthens mobile communications: New 5G location opened in Schwemsal!

Deutsche Telekom is pulling out all the stops to improve mobile communications coverage in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district. The network is being brought into shape with the commissioning of a new mobile communications site in Schwemsal and the expansion of three further locations. This shows that Telekom is constantly striving to significantly improve the network coverage and quality of mobile Internet in the region. More on this reported MZ.de.

Telekom currently operates a total of 78 locations in the district, with 39 more to be added in the next three years. The location in Raguhn, where the 5G standard was introduced for the first time, received particular attention. Until now, only LTE connections were available here. The location in Jeßnitz is also experiencing an expansion of LTE capacity, while in Zerbst the LTE capacity has also been increased. These changes are not insignificant, as bandwidth requirements increase by around 30 percent annually.

New technologies and security features

In addition to simply expanding capacity, the new cell phone locations also bring modern technologies with them. The support of Advanced Mobile Location (AML) ensures that the caller's location is automatically transmitted to the rescue control center in the event of an emergency. This is not only an important measure for the security of citizens, but also a step into the future of mobile communications. Telekom is also implementing Cell Broadcast, which sends danger messages directly to cell phones in the affected radio cells.

The expansion of the mobile phone network is carried out in close cooperation with the municipalities and property owners. They receive long-term, local rents for the space provided from Deutsche Funkturm, which is building the Telekom locations. This ensures that not only Telekom benefits from the expansion, but that the local economy is also supported.
