Bird flu alarm: mandatory stables in the Börde district – act now!

At the beginning of the week, the situation in the Börde district worsened further due to bird flu. There has been a requirement to keep poultry in stables there since October 24th after a wild bird in the UNESCO Drömling Biosphere Reserve tested positive for the virus. This step is intended to prevent the virus from spreading further and affected a large number of towns in the region. These include, among others, the unified municipality of Oebisfelde-Weferlingen and the Verbandsgemeinde of Flechtingen. Places like Bergfriede, Oebisfelde and Wieglitz are particularly affected. Hunting in the designated “infected zone” is prohibited, and poultry cannot be transported or released to avoid possible infection. If bird flu is suspected, you must report it to the responsible office on 03904/72404318.

Infected cranes have also been spotted in the Salzland district, but so far there has been no obligation to keep them in stables. However, the veterinary office recommends keeping poultry in the stable or providing them with adequate protection. Similar measures were also taken in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district, where the virus was detected in two cranes. In the Harz district, stables were also compulsory on October 24th after a confirmed case in a crane. Another suspicion of bird flu in Jerichower Land led to the introduction of a requirement for all poultry to be kept in stables from Thursday. For chickens, ducks and geese this means they must be kept in closed coops or secured covers. The Storchenhof in Loburg is currently not accepting cranes or waterfowl unless there is a negative test. Dead wild birds or wild birds with behavioral problems should be reported immediately to prevent further outbreaks.

Recommendations for poultry farmers

Given the current situation, poultry farmers are advised to review their safety measures. Animal protection is a priority, and many owners strive to secure their herds to ensure the health of their animals. It is important to be vigilant and react quickly if necessary. It is also guaranteed that avian influenza generally does not pose a danger to humans, but can have devastating consequences for animal populations.

In another context, away from bird flu, we would like to point out that users of the streaming service Spotify have the option to cancel their premium plan at any time via the account page. This switch is straightforward and will remain active until the next billing period. Another note: core content remains even after cancellation and all playlists can still be played. However, the free model is then available again with advertising breaks.

What do the stars bring?

For some of us, the zodiac sign Gemini, also known as the “heavenly twins,” brings freshness and energy to our lives. People born under this sign are often humorous and talented at communication. With an enthusiasm for life coupled with a playful touch, they are always ready for social interactions. Their tendency to approach things in pairs creates a special dynamic when dealing with others. Gemini's youthful energy has the potential to intrigue even potential partners, as long as they also display an outgoing and spontaneous nature.

In difficult times like these, perhaps we should learn something from the youthful lightheartedness of Geminis. Let's keep our ears open, let's keep our anticipation, and do our best to protect ourselves and our loved ones, whether in poultry farming or in everyday life. Stay healthy and cheerful!
