Fire in Oschersleben: Police are investigating possible arson!

In the early morning hours of July 17, 2025, the fire department in Oschersleben was called to a fire in a garage that broke out at 4:15 a.m. on Neindorfer Strasse. As Magdeburg Klickt reports, there was garbage inside the garage, the exact role of which in the start of the fire is currently unclear. The property damage amounts to around 1,000 euros, while investigations into possible arson have already been initiated. The Haldensleben police are asking witnesses for information and can be reached at 03904/478-0.

But that wasn't the only incident in Oschersleben. On the same day, the police reported a break-in at the swimming pool on Peseckendorfer Weg. Between July 2 and July 16, 2025, unknown perpetrators gained access to the fenced area by forcefully opening a window. Two power boxes and various cables were stolen, resulting in total damage of around 50,000 euros. Here too, the police are hoping for information from possible witnesses.

Fire in the neighborhood – A car in flames

Another significant incident occurred the night before, when a car on Gartenstrasse burned out completely at around 1:10 a.m. According to Tag24 the possible cause of the fire is also due to arson, even if this cannot yet be definitively confirmed. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and avert damage to a neighboring home, including broken windows and damaged shutters. However, the damaged vehicle was completely destroyed; the total damage is estimated at around 10,000 euros.

Arson is not a new phenomenon, but according to statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office, the number of recorded cases in Germany has increased steadily in recent years. Between 2014 and 2024, several thousand such incidents were documented, as Statista shows in detail. Such statistics do not leave you unmoved, especially when you consider that every fire not only causes material damage, but also endangers the lives of those affected.

The local population continues to be urged to be vigilant and to act quickly if arson is suspected. Because only together can we ensure safety in Oschersleben and the surrounding area.
