Truck accident on the A38: seriously injured and hours of closure!

Burgenlandkreis, Deutschland - A serious incident occurred on the A38 on Monday afternoon when a 26-year-old truck driver tipped over between the Leipzig-West and Lützen junction. The truck came to lie about 120 meters behind the lane on a strip of green. The driver suffered serious injuries in the accident, the exact cause of the accident is still unclear. The highway towards Göttingen had to be closed for about five hours, which led to significant traffic disruptions. Members of the motorway maintenance department were on duty to remove the blocking as soon as possible and to ensure security. Freie Presse reports about the events.

But that wasn't the only misfortune that day. According to a report by world, two car accidents occurred on the A38. In a tragic incident, a man who wanted to set up a warning triangle was hit by another truck and died at the scene of the accident. After this first accident, an truck rose to the end of the traffic jam, where a truck loaded with gas bottles was parked. This led to several gas bottles exploding and the fire attacked on adjacent fields.

rescue measures and follow

A total of four people were slightly injured in this incident and had to be brought to hospitals. The property damage is estimated at around 100,000 euros. Due to the severe damage on the road towards Göttingen, repair work is necessary, which are expected to last until the middle of the coming week. Over 100 forces from the fire brigade as well as several rescue vehicles and a rescue helicopter were on site to cope with the situation.

In view of the current events, it is important to be aware of traffic safety. In 2023 there were around 2.5 million road traffic accidents in Germany, whereby the number of accidents has risen continuously in recent decades due to increasing traffic. Statista indicates that most accidents affect property damage, while the number of accidents with personal damage has remained relatively constant. The EU has set itself the goal of no more racing fats by 2050.

The most common causes of accidents with personal injury are insufficient distance, non -adapted speed and drive under the influence of alcohol. In 2023, around 15,700 alcohol -related accidents were found with personal injury, which led to 193 deaths and 18,686 injured. Further attention should be paid to the increasing number of accidents with e-bikes and e-scooters, since the security situation is increasingly worrying here too.
