Yesterday, on October 17, 2025, a thrilling handball game took place in the Anhalt Arena Dessau that will go down in the history books of the Dessau-Roßlauer HV (DRHV). In front of 1,314 enthusiastic spectators, the home team celebrated a deserved 35:29 win against TuS N-Lübbecke. This means that the DRHV increases to a great 12:4 points and temporarily climbs to second place in the Handball Bundesliga table. Handball World reports that this victory is the fourth in a row for Dessau.

The game got off to a somewhat rocky start for the hosts. TuS N-Lübbecke got off to a better start and led 3:5 in the 6th minute. But the DRHV did not allow themselves to be discouraged and responded immediately with a 3-0 run, which led to their first home lead. Shortly afterwards, Lübbecke regained the lead, but the Dessau team showed fighting spirit and equalized again at 12:11 in the 26th minute. The halftime score was 14:13 for the hosts. Sportschau emphasizes that the DRHV did not relinquish the lead until the end.

Drama in the second half

After the break, Alexander Schulze equalized for the guests, but the DRHV dominated the rest of the game. They took control and led 18:15 by the 37th minute at the latest. It was a thrilling game in which the Dessau team repeatedly found solutions against Lübbecker's offensive defense. Particularly noteworthy was the performance of goalkeeper Philip Ambrosius, who laid the foundation for the victory with 12 saves.

By the 53rd minute at the latest, the home team had virtually decided the game with a 29:23 lead. Yannick Danneberg confidently converted seven meters and put the DRHV in a safe position. In the end, the Dessau team celebrated a clear 35:29 victory. “The first half was crucial for the success,” noted DRHV coach Vanja Radic. His colleague from TuS N-Lübbecke, Piotr Przybecki, was less satisfied and called for more intensive work in defense.

Thanks to this victory, the DRHV's record after eight match days has improved to six wins and two defeats. This makes it clear that the people from Dessau not only want to play along this season, but also want to fight for the top places.
